After my first cycle tour around northern Europe last year (2012) I caught the bug. The trip generally went without incident and I began to appreciate the ability to stop pedalling when tiredness kicks in, pitch up the tent and settle down for the night. It’s such a cheap way of travelling and I was able to see so much more of the countries I visited and get a better feel for them which I would have missed had I been speeding along the highway in a car.

So after reading the numerous blogs and sites on the net that have been feeding me with ideas on how to get my next fix I’ve decided to ride from John O’Groats to Lands End otherwise known as the JOGLE. That’s how this site came about.  There are more details about that trip on the ride page.

If my little corner of the web helps equip or inspire anyone just as crazyguyonabike and the countless blogs have myself, and the charities that I’ll be riding for get some money, then I’ll be happy this has all been worthwhile.

So what does the future hold for this site? Well I intend to document more of my rides here and if it’s a challenge then I’ll ride for charity. I’m hoping one day to cycle the Tour Divide. That will need some preparation both in fitness and gear selection so I’ll be doing similar trips to give me some idea of what to expect.

Thanks dropping by!
